Are you looking for a loving and nurturing school for your child? Los Ninos Montessori School (located in the North Valley, at 6923 4th Street, NW, 345-4618) is an exciting place, where children learn in harmony with their interests and abilities. Our experienced Montessori-trained teachers direct and encourage each child to encounter the world of discovery and to develop a positive response to learning.
Our school exceeds all state requirements for childcare centers, and it offers much more because it is based on the premise that the most important years for learning are from birth to age six. We provide a place where children can receive a well-rounded and happy learning experience, where they feel at home and nurtured.
All children are introduced to an educational environment as soon as each child can comprehend his/her surroundings. Lessons are individually based, the Montessori philosophy being each child learns according to his or her ability. This approach at early ages, motivated by the child's own readiness for successful learning experiences, provides an excellent foundation for lifetime education.
Subjects include science, geography, language arts, mathematics, art, music, Spanish, sign language, dance and socialization skills. Montessori classrooms offer materials to enhance positive social exchange, communication skill, perceptual awareness, problem solving, motor coordination and an aesthetic appreciation of the arts.
Enrollment is open to children from six weeks old through kindergarten. We are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, year-round. Our hours are flexible because the school functions in partnership with parents, aiming to fit their schedules. Full-time is 7:00am and 6:00pm, part-time is 9:00am to 3:00pm or 9:00am to 12:00pm, 1 to 5 days a week. Extended care is also available for part-time students. (See payment schedules.)
Our classrooms are designed for a child's world. By being arranged to stimulate their natural curiosity, children are able to explore at their individual levels of understanding and interests. As our staff guides your child through this field of learning opportunity, the child develops a positive self-image, a love of learning and a sense that curiosity and creativity have no limitation.
Teaching concepts are expanded to a hands-on experience which facilities understanding. Your child begins to ''learn how to learn'' and develops a foundation for future education
